How to Use

Step-by-step instructions
  1. 1Enter the battery voltage.
  2. 2Enter the battery capacity in Amp-hours (Ah).
  3. 3The calculator will display the energy in Watt-hours and Joules.

Energy Storage

Calculates the total energy stored in a battery based on its voltage and charge capacity.
Energy (Wh) = Voltage (V) × Capacity (Ah)

Variables:

VVoltage
AhAmp-hours

Example

Car Battery

Inputs:

Voltage:12 V
Capacity:50 Ah

Steps:

  1. 1.Wh = 12 * 50 = 600 Wh
Result:
600 Wh

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Watt-hours?

Watt-hours are a better measure of total energy than Amp-hours because they account for voltage. A 12V 100Ah battery has much more energy than a 3.7V 100Ah battery.
